Complementing an unbeatable stay with sports and exercise is the best way to spend a holiday, and it’s even better when you do it on two wheels. Do you love bikes and cycling routes? Triumphing the summit to the Formentor lighthouse with our hotels in Puerto Pollensa
The north of Mallorca has a very unusual corner in which its existence is not very well understood. A small and characterful lighthouse reigns the most northerly tip of the north of the island: the Formentor lighthouse. It is a true touristic magnet due to its beauty and panoramic views, which is why reaching it along its winding roads is a complete adventure. Also, the peninsula of Formentor is made up of one of the most famous cycling routes in Mallorca. If you start from Puerto Pollensa, the area in which you will find our hotels, there are 20 kilometres separating the two places and it holds one of the most spectacular views in the entire Mediterranean.
Explore the whole of the Serra de Tramuntana on two wheels
If you’re on holiday in Mallorca and you want to take on an unforgettable challenge, we suggest one of the longest cycling routes which you can do on the island. Starting at our hotels in Puerto Pollensa, ride in a diagonal line across the island until reaching Andratx, crossing a World Heritage Site, declared by UNESCO, and one of the most magical landscapes in the world: the Serra de Tramuntana. This route is 110 km in length and has a climb of 2.520 metres and reaches the highest road on the island, located in Puig Major, the highest point in Mallorca, crossing Can Costa, Cap des Bosquet, es Grau and the Coll de sa Gramola to finally end in Andratx. You will have the opportunity of crossing some of the most beautiful towns on the island, such as Sóller, Deià, Valldemossa, Banyalbufar and Estellencs.
From our hotels in Puerto Pollensa to Sa Calobra
We would like to recommend a beautiful route of medium length which begins at our hotels in Puerto Pollensa. From this magical enclave in the north of Mallorca, you will reach Sa Calobra, a small yet grand place where you will find the most beautiful roads on the island. Although this route does have a difficulty level of high, you can alter its length and intensity to match your preferences, with added inclines such as Coll de Sa Batalla or de Sant Llorenç. This route has a heart stopping end: a 10 kilometre descent with a lot of horse shoe bends which will get your adrenaline pumping.
An easy and uncomplicated route
If you don’t dare to try any of the previously mentioned routes, we want to show you a low difficulty one. It is a ride along small wooded areas and quiet paths in the wetlands of s’Albufereta along the Camino Viejo de Cala San Vicente. If the weather is nice, you can also take your swimsuit and celebrate your arrival with a dip in one of the most beautiful coves in Mallorca.
